The Property Council appoints Ross Grove to lead its Western Sydney division, while Daniel Morelli rises through the ranks at Mainbrace and capital markets broker Simon Rooney joins CBRE.

Ross Grove is the Property Council’s new Western Sydney director. Grove comes to the newly-created role with a broad range of experience working with government across Western Sydney, most notably as a former mayor and councillor on Holroyd and Cumberland councils. Grove was most recently a senior policy advisor to Parramatta lord mayor Andrew Wilson.

Retail construction specialist Mainbrace has appointed Daniel Morelli as its new NSW interiors manager. Morelli joined Mainbrace as part of its graduate program in 2011 and has since worked on a broad range of retail and commercial projects. Morelli is currently overseeing a repurposing project for Stockland at Shellharbour, as well as major interior fitouts for Vicinity, H&M and Anaconda in Sydney. Over the last 30 years, Mainbrace has built a $2 billion-plus track record of retail projects nationally.

Capital markets broker Simon Rooney (pictured right) will join CBRE on 1 August as executive managing director of retail investments after 25 years at JLL During his time at JLL, Rooney ranked as one of the firm’s top three brokers globally and executed transactions in Australia worth $20 billion. Among his sales are Brisbane's Indooroopilly shopping centre, Westfield Eastgardens in Sydney and the Vicinity Centres portfolio. Rooney has also been instrumental in significant mixed-use transactions such as 80 Collins Street in Melbourne and the MLC Centre and Wynyard Place in Sydney.

Former Lendlease development general counsel, Michael Peters, has joined Frasers Property Australia’s national investment committee. Peters has been involved with the London and Sydney Olympics developments, as well as projects at Homebush, Barangaroo and Circular Quay. The announcement follows several high-profile appointments in recent months at Frasers Property. Anthony Boyd was promoted to chief financial officer, Cameron Leggatt stepped into Boyd’s shoes as executive general manager for residential and Scott Ullman moved into Leggatt’s role. CFO Matt Knox took up a permanent appointment with the global group.

Corey Turner (pictured above) has been appointed by investLogan as its new development manager. Turner will oversee the development of The York in Beenleigh and other development projects. investLogan is an independent property development and investment company that is 100 per cent owned by the Logan City Council.

One of Australia’s largest commercial landscaping groups, comprising Glascott Landscape and Civil and Marsupial Landscape Management, has appointed Craig Sutherland as its new CEO. Sutherland joins from Spotless, where he was group general manager for Australia and New Zealand responsible for managing a portfolio value of more than $650 million and 4,500 staff. In a consolidation move, Matthew Glascott takes on the role of executive chairman and will provide strategic direction while supporting the management team.
