The Property Council promotes Jen Williams as executive director in Queensland, Richard Abbott joins Piper Alderman as real estate partner and GHD appoints a new global sustainability leader, James Viray.
The Property Council has promoted Jen Williams to the role of Queensland executive director. Williams has been the Property Council’s Queensland deputy executive director for the past six years. Prior to her role with the Property Council, Williams held policy roles in Brisbane City Council and the federal government, and had a career in teaching. Williams assumes the mantle from Chris Mountford, who takes on the position of chief executive of Independent Schools Queensland next month.
Richard Abbott joins national law firm, Piper Alderman, as a real estate partner in Sydney this month. Abbott has almost 30 years’ experience in the strategic planning, negotiation and delivery of major real estate projects, complex developments and syndicated investment structures. He boasts both Australian and international experience having practised at a specialist property firm in London and at national firms in Sydney for the last 20 years. Abbott has previously sat on Property Council committees and was a board member of the Property Industry Foundation for five years. Abbott joins the national real estate team in Sydney with partner Margot King. The national team led by Warren Denny now boasts nine partners across the firm.
Professional services company GHD has appointed James Viray to the newly created role of sustainability leader. In this role, James will help drive GHD’s commitment to environmental, social and governance principles. GHD has committed to carbon neutrality by 2025. Based in Houston, Viray was previously global lead for the social responsibility function at ConocoPhillips.
Real estate fund manager EG has appointed James McAdam as fund manager for the Yield Plus Infrastructure Property Fund No. 2. McAdam brings 20 years’ experience to the role, including as a portfolio manager with CIP Asset Management at Challenger Group. He will also lead the delivery in EG’s new urban regeneration joint venture.
