Property Australia

The serious work is about to begin

When the final ballot is cast and the last democracy sausage has been sizzled this Saturday, the country will sit back to see who will form Australia's next government.

There’s a chance we may not get a clear-cut result if the contest is tight. The shape of the Senate is likely to take many days and perhaps weeks to determine.

Whatever the outcome, we’ll be ready to engage with the incoming government and parliament on the issues that are important to Australia’s biggest industry and employer.

Whoever wins the election, there’ll be areas of heated agreement and others where we disagree. The relevance of the property industry to the big public policy issues is beyond question. It’s a relevance built on our vital role in driving the economy and in shaping Australia’s cities and suburbs.

The Property Council has worked diligently over the years to establish our role as a credible voice for our industry, and our views are listened to and respected by the decision-makers and policy advisers across the political spectrum.

Once the votes have been counted this weekend the serious work of advocacy for our industry resumes.

On election-eve we will be celebrating the people and projects who are raising the bar in our industry. More than 1,000 people from across our industry will gather at ICC Sydney to toast the achievements of their peers when we announce the winners of the 2019 National Innovation and Excellence Awards. Good luck to all the finalists and congratulations on your many achievements.
